Who is Skevi Giapani ?
Skevi Giapani was born in 1977 in Larnaca. She hails from the occupied village of Makrasyka in Famagusta and grew up in the village of Avgorou in the free area of Famagusta. She is the second of four daughters born to Adamos Giapanis and Anastasia Vassiliou. In 1995, she moved to Greece and has been living between two homelands ever since. She is an award-winning visual artist, recognized by the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle in Thessaloniki for her work “Η σοφή Γαία αναδεικνυει την ελεύθερη Ελλάδα” which is part of the museum’s collection. In addition, she was honored with a diploma from the Greek Choirs Association for her lifetime contribution to the advancement of choral music and culture, and by a Cypriot cultural organization for her valuable contribution to Art and Culture. A mother of two, she graduated with top honors from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She subsequently received specialized training in Special Artistic Education within Educational Structures and Cultural Reference Spaces from the University of the Aegean.
She pursued studies in the psychological approaches to children’s drawing at the Hellenic Open University (E.A.P.) and in the Organization & Administration of Education at the University of the Peloponnese. Guided by her belief in the value of culture and its crucial role in the development and well-being of societies, she went on to undertake a master’s degree in Cultural Management, in order to deepen her knowledge and contribute her utmost to society. She is a member of the Chamber of Functional Arts of Greece, a member of a sociocultural organization, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Union of Cypriots of Greece. Coming from a place steeped in musical education and choral tradition, she is also a member of the choir of the city of Perama. In her artistic work, she draws inspiration from the past and the present, with echoes of a hopeful future. She teaches, exhibits, evolves, and continues to develop through her research. Her works can be found in private and public collections.

Project Αγνοούμενοι
In 2024, the interactive project “Αγνοούμενοι” was launched. It began at the checkpoint in Deryneia, focusing on those who remain missing, with the aim of honoring their memory on as broad a global scale as possible through public participation. It is as though the missing persons of Cyprus wish to speak of love and unity, embracing the whole planet. The project itself evolves through the involvement of the public.
